More detailed information about the snowpack: 

The North Face of Donner Peak's meager snowpack is showing facets to the ground. These weak, sugary grains are up to 3mm wide and help make this shallow snowpack completely unconsolidated in the areas we traveled today (between 6,800 & 7,400', NE aspect).
