Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Warm day in the Tamarack Peaks area.  We revisited 2 observations sites from Wednesday 1/10 that were targeting the buried facet layer.  At the lower elevation site, 9200', the facets have gained strength, became more dense, and did not show unstable test results.  At the upper elevation site, 9400', the facets have become more dense but are still reactive to snowpack tests showing unstable results-see snowpit.

A variety of snow surface conditions exist throughout the area including; soft unconsolidated snow, breakable crusts, sun crusts, and wet sticky snow on all aspects below 9200' by early afternoon.  This area has seen high use over the weekend.
