Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

 

Snow depth was approximately 90 to 100 cm. There were about 30 cm of new snow on a firm crust and just below the crust was a 5 cm layer of rotten, faceted snow. Another 20 cm down was another faceted layer. And again right above the ground there was a layer of rotten snow. 

The column failed at 15 taps with an uneven fracture.

I did not see or hear any signs of settling or instability while climbing or skiing.
