Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snowpit in leeward (East facing) slope just below the hut. Top 30-50 CM of snowpack was winddrift layers which broke along several different layers. Often the slab would have different fracture layers. This went down to the rain/ice layer at about 50cm down. Below that the pack was extremely dense for another 50 cm, and then another hard/ice layer and below that large crystals.

The extended column test broke under the shovel on the 5th elbow tap, but did not propogate horizontally.
