More detailed information about the snowpack:

New snow amounts of 2 cm in this area. Elevation of on snow travel for this tour was 8,500' to 8,900' and limited to NW and N aspects. Fairly humid conditions with wet snow on the surface. Areas of faceted snow under slab were protected from the moisture and remained dry or dry to moist. Areas of near surface facets not under a slab had become wet and easily clumped together.

Skier triggered roller balls on N aspect at 8,600' gave indication for potential loose wet avalanche problems in steeper terrain.

Mid day air temp of +1.5C (35.7F) was sufficient to cause new snow to melt off of trees, leading to dripping free water.
