Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Melt freeze crust on all aspects traveled today in the 6,700' to 7,720' elevation range. The exception was small areas of N aspect terrain that has 100% shade all day. Crust thickness was around 1 cm on N aspects (photos at lat/long of this ob) and up to 4 cm thick on S aspects. Snow surface melt on S aspects became noticeable by 11 am with the surface crust becoming unsupportable.

A comparison snowpit dug at the head of Lincoln Valley adjacent to the snowpit from Feb 2 (N aspect, 7,650', 39.573231, -120.389947) indicated a continued increase in strength of a previous faceted weak layer at a height of 71 cm in the snowpack. Snowpit test results on this layer changed from CTM-11 SC and CTM-14 SC on Feb 2 to CTH-25 SP today. Propagation test results of ECTX and PST 60/100 end in the comparison snowpit today indicate very good snow stability.
